Valleys and roof edges on a Kansas City, MO job
On this Kansas City, Missouri job, we photographed the roof where two slopes meet and took a closer look beneath a shingle at the eave. These details help us plan the work and explain the existing roof to the homeowner.

Pipe flashing beside the metal valley.

Where the slopes meet
The first photo shows an open metal valley next to a plumbing vent. Water from the adjoining slopes runs through this channel toward the gutter. During an inspection, we check the valley, shingle edges and flashing around the pipe, and photograph any areas that need attention.
A closer view at the gutter
The second photo records the layers beneath a shingle at the eave. A close-up gives us information that a view from the yard cannot show. We pair these details with wider roof photos when preparing a repair or replacement scope.
Keep this part of the inspection with a roofer. Lifting shingles can damage them, and working along the gutter puts you close to the roof edge.
