Whether to file a roof claim depends on your policy and the damage at your home. A roofing contractor can document the roof and estimate the work, but cannot decide what your policy covers or what your insurer will pay.

Start with your policy and insurer

The Kansas Department of Insurance advises homeowners to report a loss to their insurer as soon as possible, photograph the damage, review the policy and ask the insurer to explain unclear coverage. The department also explains that the insurer assigns the adjuster and makes the settlement offer.

    What MCO Roofing can provide

MCO Roofing can document visible roof damage, provide a written estimate, attend the adjuster inspection and answer questions about the repair scope. Your policy and insurer determine coverage and settlement.

    • Photos of visible roof and exterior damage
    • A written repair or replacement estimate
    • On-site access during the adjuster inspection
    • Answers to questions about materials and repair scope

Widespread hail marks can justify a professional inspection. Coverage depends on the policy and the insurer's assessment.

    Questions to ask your insurer

    • What roof damage does this policy cover, and what exclusions apply?
    • Is there a separate deductible for wind or hail?
    • Does the policy pay replacement cost or actual cash value for this roof?
    • What reporting deadlines and inspection steps apply to this loss?

    Compare the written scopes

The Kansas Department of Insurance says a homeowner who disagrees with an adjuster's estimate should contact the insurance company and may obtain a contractor's estimate. MCO Roofing can explain its written roofing scope to you and the insurer. We do not determine the claim outcome.

We are happy to inspect the roof and document visible damage. We can also provide a written estimate. Whether to file and how the claim is resolved are decisions for you and your insurer. Call (913) 954-4501 to schedule an inspection.
